The Modern Grip

The Modern Grip

It has long been advocated that you should hold the putter in your palms or "lifelines." This is because greens used to be grainy, slow, bumpy Bermuda grass. The original style of putting was a wristy, pop-like stroke out of necessity. Through the years, agronomy and superintendents' equipment have advanced. Greens are now smoother and faster, and the majority of good putters today are swingers and not hitters. The way you grip the putter should therefore change.

Make More Putts

Two key points to consider are that you would never grip a golf club in your palms because you would have no leverage and too much tension, and you have considerably more feel in your fingers. The analogy I use is that were you to have surgery, would you want the surgeon to hold the scalpel in his fingers or palm? Gripping a putter should be the same. My Perfect Putting Grip is the exact grip I have taught to thousands of golfers through the years. It will show you how to have complete control over the putter with no tension, as it is biomechanically correct. Minimize 3 putts and save up to 6 strokes per round. Putting will now be more consistent and way more fun!
